Padel tennis is a fun and exciting sport that is gaining popularity around the world. It is a racquet sport that is similar to tennis, but with some key differences. One of the key differences in padel tennis is the use of different types of shots. Two of the most common types of shots in padel tennis are Bandeja and Vepora.
What is Bandeja?
The Bandeja is a shot that is used to hit the ball high and deep into the opponent’s court. It is a defensive shot that is used when the ball is approaching the player at head height or higher. The aim of the bandeja is to give the player time to recover their position and get ready for the next shot.
To execute a Bandeja, the player starts with their feet shoulder-width apart and their body facing the net. The player then raises their racquet above their head and swings down at the ball with a flat, open-faced racquet. The goal is to hit the ball with a lot of topspin, which will cause it to bounce high and deep into the opponent’s court.
What is Vepora?
The Vepora is a shot that is used to hit the ball low and hard into the opponent’s court. It is an offensive shot that is used when the ball is approaching the player at waist height or lower. The aim of the Vepora is to put pressure on the opponent and force them to make a mistake.
To execute a Vepora, the player starts with their feet shoulder-width apart and their body facing the net. The player then swings their racquet forward in a straight line, hitting the ball with a flat, closed-faced racquet. The goal is to hit the ball low and hard, with minimal spin, so that it bounces low and fast into the opponent’s court.
What are the key differences between Bandeja and Vepora?
The key differences between Bandeja and Vepora are the height and speed of the shot. The bandeja is a high, defensive shot that is used to give the player time to recover their position. The Vepora is a low, offensive shot that is used to put pressure on the opponent.
Another key difference is the type of spin used in each shot. The bandeja is hit with a lot of topspin, which causes the ball to bounce high and deep into the opponent’s court. The Vepora is hit with minimal spin, which causes the ball to bounce low and fast into the opponent’s court.
Bandeja and Vepora are two of the most common shots in padel tennis. While they may look similar, they have different purposes and require different techniques to execute. Understanding the differences between these shots is key to becoming a successful padel tennis player.
